Who we are

Hi Everyone,

The Joy Project Founders – Sarah, Jo and Chrissy

We are the three founders of The Joy Project – Sarah, Jo and Chrissy. We have loved our time sharing love and joy with so many new friends who have made their way to Joy coffee’s and have contacted us here through the blog. We feel so blessed to be able to bring information and joy to those who are new to Brisbane. We would love to hear from you if you are thinking of moving to Brisbane or if you have lived here and still have some questions.  Browse through our site and hopefully you will find some answers or drop us an email and say hello!!

This year 2018, now brings a new exciting time for The Joy Project, we will be expanding! We will now be overseeing Joy from the background and handing over our coffee mornings to some beautiful ladies who have it in their hearts to be a part of the Joy journey.

The first new members of our team are….

Brenda Forrest and Mariza van Rensburg – Indooroopilly

I am Brenda.

My family and I moved to Brisbane in July of 2014 from Denver, Colorado where we had lived for 10 years. Prior to that I lived where I had grown up near Dayton, Ohio. I have two children, my daughter is married and lives in Denver and my teenage son is here. My husband, Mark is an Australian who I met while he was working in Ohio. I enjoy reading, travelling, quilting, pilates and stand up paddle boarding.  I found out about The Joy Project about 3 months after moving here and it was exactly what I had been missing, a feeling of community.  I have met so many wonderful ladies and am looking forward to getting to know many more who have made Brisbane home.

Hi, I am Mariza,

I am the wife of an incredible man and the mother of four extraordinary children, two boys and two girls. I love my life and I am having an absolute adventure with my precious family. I was once a very serious career girl as an engineer and then as part of an international management consulting firm. I never envisaged being a stay at home Mum and neither did anyone who knew me at the time. Today I homeschool my four children, because we love the flexibility and lifestyle it affords us.  And I am totally happy and fulfilled.

People are my passion.  I love to meet and get to know people. I also love to see people live in the fullness of all they were made to be. I love flowers and wine and leaf tea in a pot. I was born and raised in South Africa. At the age of thirty-two, with two babies under two, we moved to London.  Thirteen years, four continents and two more children later, I have experienced moving countries and states in various phases of life. The good, the bad and the devastating all adds to create an unforgettable journey.

Brisbane became our home in 2013. We were sad to leave Sydney at the time.  Now , four and half years later, there is no place we would rather be. We love this city and we love its people and we love all it has to offer. Lifestyle wise there are not many places on the planet that compares to our Beautiful Brissie. A great place to live and a wonderful place to raise a family.

Please pop over to our events page to see when the next coffee morning is in your area. We know these beautiful women will embrace you and encourage you on your new adventure in Brisbane.
