Hello Joy Friends,
So you have made the move to Brisbane, hubbies off at work, the kids are at school and finally all of your fabulous furniture has arrived. But the paisley print you had chosen for your couch in the last house doesn’t quite work in the new one, and the pine cabinet that looked so gorgeous in your previous house just doesn’t work now, what to do!!!!
Chrissy here first 🙂
Over the years I have made it to a few different decorating courses and I do enjoy reading decorating magazines, blogs and books. So I have gleaned a little inside information about where to start.
A golden rule for finding an upholsterer – use someone who is recommended, then have a look at the work they have do, visit the workshop. Remember you don’t have to use the material that they have in the van if you don’t want to. There are some amazing material wholesalers in Brisbane who will supply to the upholsterer and you can visit their showrooms and spend hours picking out the perfect combination for you.
Recently I decided to recover a beautiful wing back chair to give it a new life. So I put out the call to my fabulous friends who are in the building design industry and asked for a recommendation. They came back with Carlton Custom Upholstery. I gave the guys at Carlton Upholstery a call and would you believe by that afternoon someone was here to quote, 2 days later the chair was picked up and whisked away. So quickly in fact that I had to take the before photos out in the garden on the way to the truck.
As you can see this is a well loved chair, that had done its time in the nursery, the reading nook, the downstairs rumpus and the living room and was a little out of date.
A little over two weeks later I got the call from Carlton and they delivered the next day.
I am so pleased with the result. I will definitely use Carlton Upholstery in the future and I would highly recommend it to any of you who feel like updating a special piece of furniture. Just so you know, we don’t get paid to promote any person or product on this blog and we only ever promote the things we have found to be of high excellence.
Sarah here lovelies 🙂
So we have a beautiful old pine kitchen table and chairs that we have carried around the world with us and it just didn’t really fit in with our bright Aussie house. So the beautiful Clare who works from Fig tree pocket does an amazing job of giving old furniture a complete facelift and the result has been amazing !
She also has transformed Jo’s sideboards
If you too have a piece that could do with a face lift, get in contact with her via the link to her FB page. Clare does also have some pieces for sale on occasions so if you are interested make sure to ask what she has at the moment.
