Hi Everyone,

Have you signed up for your early storm warning go to brisbane city council ( click on the link)

Following on from our storm preparation blog, I thought it would be good to give you some idea of what to do during the storm.

If you see a storm warning on the T.V or perhaps you have been sent a storm alert SMS from Brisbane City Council what do you do next?

Our friends at Westside News had some great hints:

AS THE STORM APPROACHES:

Have your mobile phone close by and fully charged

Listen to a local radio station for updated information

Disconnect all electrical appliances

Ensure all vehicles are under cover

Take shelter and secure all pets and animals

Remain in the strongest part of the house, which is usually the bathroom or basement

If you are outdoors, find shelter and do not stand under trees

Listen to your portable radio for storm updates

If driving, stop clear of trees, power lines and creeks

Avoid using the telephones during the storm

AFTER THE STORM PASSES

Listen to the local radio station for further warnings and advice

Call OOO (triple zero) – for life threatening emergencies

Australia is a beautiful and amazing country, our weather can be quite extreme. As any Australian will tell you in the middle of a long drought, don’t worry this will all end with a flood and after flood season there will be fires. We all choose to live in this beautiful country and as part of that we have to live through the seasons as they come.

Being prepared, with knowledge and a plan will make this summer storm season easier for your whole family.

Blessings
