Medical emergency information

One of my 1st discoveries whenever we move is always  ” Where is the closest Emergency room ”

When we first arrived here in Brisbane it was a little daunting. But  I wanted to be organised and know where I would go if I suddenly needed to, and have already thought through a route before having to make a dash with a sick child or adult, must be the nurse deep down inside  me coming out

The most important thing to remember though is the emergency number is 000

1st up kiddies

We have a brand new childrens hospital here in Brisbane which has just opened and its amazing and the care 1st class

Its Lady Cilento Childrens Hospital    which you’ll find at 501 Stanley street, South Brisbane click here for all their contact numbers

In fact when it comes to kiddies and hospitals there is an amazing book called “Help! my child is in hospital

1958403_568715143235940_566541356_n

which is just a fantastic practical reference book for parents on having a child in hospital and deals with emergency admissions as well as ongoing stays in hospital .

When it comes to the rest of the family

There is the Royal Brisbane which is a public hospital and again open to all as is the Princess Alexander both offering excellent care for all ages.

If you are in the East of Brisbane then Redlands public hospital also offers a new and improved ER department .

If you are in the North of Brisbane The Prince Charles will be your nearest ER department

We then come onto all the private hospitals all of which have ER departments, not so large but can still offer excellent care

these include

The Wesley ,

the Mater  ,

St Andrews

If you are just looking for an out of hours emergency clinic for those nasty cuts or other minor emergencies then Taringa medical centre and  Wynnum hospital are both open 7 days a week until 10pm  which is great. You don’t need an appointment so sometimes may have to wait a while but they offer a great service.

There are plenty of after hour Doctors as well around our beautiful city , this list is a pretty handy one to keep

Here also are a couple of very helpful numbers

Non-urgent health advice: 13 43 25 84 (13 HEALTH)
Poisons advice line: 13 11 26

Our top Joy tip would be to pre program your phone with these numbers as well and work out that route to hospital so that if ever the situation arises you have all this information right there to hand

But I hope and pray that you won’t actually have to use it

Stay safe peeps

Blessings
