We have some fabulous international spice shops here in Brisbane stocking an enormous variety of spices and foods for all you food lovers out there. Even Jo who is such an incredible foodie !!! has been blown away by these 2 gems we have for you, and that is not something Chrissy and I say lightly. Jo always leaves with bags full of goodies and turns them into AMAZING meals !!
The 1st one is KKN spices in Chelmer, this was one of Chrissy’s little secrets 🙂 mind you she is such an amazing fountain of knowledge !! she drives around all these little roads and suddenly these amazing places appear that she knows all about.
She took Jo and I to KKN, and Jo nearly passed out on the floor with excitement. They have an
amazing array of foods and spices and in very large quantities, even I was inspired to buy some bits and pieces as who doesn’t love being able to make a yummy curry from scratch. Can’t wait to see what Jo does with all that she bought ! if you would like some ideas of what you could make Jo has some awesome curry paste recipes you can try 🙂
makes me hungry even writing about it.
you can find these guys at
127 Leybourne Street
This next one I’ll let Jo tell you all about 🙂
Jo here 🙂 – I have found an awesome Indo-Lankan spice shop in the Western suburbs at Darra.
I popped over on the weekend to have a look and was not disappointed. It is in the bottom of a two story house just right next door to the Darra indoor sports centre on Bellwood Street. They had all the standards and a few extras. They had a Huge range of spices, curry powders, flours, rices, lentils, pickles, curry mixes and pastes, breads, poppadoms and the one thing I am so excited about paneer cheese, which normally I trek all the way to Woolloongabba to buy. The staff were very friendly and offered plenty of help.
So if you need to restock your spice cupboard head over to RMK International and you will not be disappointed. They are opened Tuesday – Sunday and you can contact them on 3376 0855. They are at
31 Bellwood Street,
right next door to the indoor sports centre, can’t miss it.
Oh that reminds me I need to go and water my curry tree seeds, the lovely lady who owns the store had fresh curry leaves to give away when I was there and she had some seeds that she gave me, I am so excited can’t wait to have fresh curry leaves all the time. 🙂
And lastly peeps a couple of others we love are
All India Foods over on Balaclava Street, Woolangabba
JK International over in Rocklea
