Sanctuary Cove

Looking for a getaway that is not too far from home, well Sanctuary Cove is perfect.

Not far from Coomera it is only a 40 min drive from Brisbane. It is a great place for a special occasion, anniversary, birthday or no reason at all.

We decided to head down there with another couple for our husbands birthday. We are mad keen golfers so we opted for a stay and play package (the memorable escapes package) that included accommodation, breakfast and a round of golf with carts at either the Hope Island course, The Pines or The Palms.

We played at Hope Island on the Saturday and as we were child free took the opportunity to play another 18 holes on the Sunday at The Palms course. These courses are amazing, with a lot of bunkers and fairways that are a little narrower than your average public course and actually The Hope Island course was quite forgiving, and we were all very impressed that we didn’t lose too many balls. If you are prepared to head out to the golf course you could also be lucky enough to spot some of the local kangaroos that frequent the courses.

If golf is not your thing never fear you can always send your other half off to golf and enjoy a session in the beauty parlour and spend hours being pampered, or if that doesn’t tickle your fancy you can swim, play tennis or workout at the gym or even just sit and relax by the man made lagoon complete with sand and beach chairs.

Last but not least there is always the shopping option. Harbour town is an outlet shopping precinct that is not far away and is always good for a bargain.

They have several restaurants at the resort that you can eat at but we opted to take the short 5 minute stroll to the Sanctuary Cove Marina and eat at one of the many restaurants located there (see my Restaurant review on Jonez on food blog).

Of course if you don’t feel like venturing out there is always room service with plenty of options on the menu. The buffet breakfast was served over looking the lagoon and pool area which was spectacular. The breakfast buffet had something for everyone, even plenty of gluten free options. You will not walk away disappointed.

The Sanctuary Cove Resort is part of the Intercontinental Hotel Group. The rooms were quite spacious and had a fabulous view of the lagoon and pool area off the back balcony, where you can also sit and enjoy the view.

Inside the resort there is a bar with a beautiful grand piano and an open fire that you can sit by and enjoy a pre dinner drink and listen to the piano, or the night we were there they had a musician singing and playing his guitar.

Now if you are keen to head down to Sanctuary Cove keep an eye out for great deals on packages on wotif, stayz and of course Sanctuary Coves website. If you are interested in an extra round of golf you can always find a great deal for one of the courses on
