Playing Ladies – High Tea in Brisbane

Dear Joy Friends

Now we all like to play ladies once in a while so we thought we would give you some ideas of some lovely places around Brisbane that you can go to for high tea with some friends.

Our first place is courtesy of a lovely lady Glenda that we met at the Botanical Gardens. She had been to The Willows Tea Room at Mt Gravatt, now she didn’t have a high tea, but had something similar for only $18. She received a scone with jam and cream, a sandwich, a piece of cheesecake and a coffee. Well worth a look ladies.

One I have been to which is always really lovely for a special occasion is Room with Roses in the Brisbane Arcade. This cafe is situated in the beautiful heritage listed Brisbane Arcade Building and specialise in High Tea. The perfect place to dress up and play ladies for the afternoon, the cost for the deluxe afternoon tea is $42 per person and for additional $4 you can ask for gluten free 🙂

Now if you want something a little more decadent then you can’t go past the Stamford Plaza Buffet Chocolate High Tea. I can’t really say anything else, when you have chocolate and Buffett in the one sentence. The food is absolutely amazing and you can sit over looking the beautiful Brisbane River. Thankfully they do also provide some savoury treats that you can intersperse with all the delectable sweet treats. so worth a visit. It is also a great place for a baby shower or even a hens party/kitchen tea (am I showing my age, do kitchen teas actually exist anymore)!! the chocolate high tea is available on Sat and Sun from 3-5pm and costs $49 pp . They offer a morning tea during the week from 10-12am at a cost of $35 pp

Next up we have Keri Craig Emporium which is also located in the Brisbane Arcade. You can go along and not only sit and relax in their coffee lounge but browse their extensive range of beautiful homewares and fashion, sounds like the perfect combo to me.

This one is a beautiful little place I found at Graceville and I have been a few times for a baby shower, a 5th birthday party and just to have a lovely afternoon with friends. It is the Forget Me Not Tea Room. It is a beautiful little place that has a lot of lovely little treasures that you can purchase whilst you sit and enjoy your high tea or even just a coffee if you are not having high tea. They have such beautiful China that they serve their tea and coffee in and the staff are just delightful.

So I had the pleasure of being taken to Bacchus  which is in the Rydges hotel down in Southbank for High tea and it was just divine !! We were served a delicate tower of cakes and savoury treats and truly did feel very special for a couple of hrs .  We definitely had more than enough yummy little treats to try and everything was absolutely delicious.

With all these beautiful venues you will need to book ahead especially at special times of the year such as mothers day . But they are worth it if you are wanting to spoil someone for a special occasion .
