So when we think of Australia how many of us mentally say
” Throw another shrimp on the BarBie ” 🙂
Its just who we are over here on this beautiful big island and nowhere is better for a good old BBQ than Queensland, with our perfect grilling weather all year round.
I must admit when we first arrived our limit was burgers and hot dogs and there were times when we even struggled with those.
There was also this hidden pressure that the grill is the mans domain which was really quite funny in our house as my man felt the pressure to step it up from ” Caramelised hot dogs ??!?!?! ……… ” or should we say burnt hot dogs 😉 🙂 to producing something edible and delicious.
So as with all good BBQ chefs, he took himself off to the shops and came home with a very manly grill, and lots of tools and implements to cook with and even checked out some recipes, I know how awesome is that !
So we have gone from chuck whatever on the BarBie. To, lets get the temperature just right, lets slow cook that tandoori chicken until it’s juicy and tender, and lets wrap those ribs up in foil and put them on for a few hours, so they fall off the bone. We even have sweetcorn in foil cooked til its yummy and sweet, with caramelised onions on the side ( and no not burnt this time ) I know, you’re all feeling hungry now and want to come to my house when he’s cooking don’t you 🙂
We even take bacon and eggs sometimes when we go out for a dam day, and cook them up on the little weber grill. And believe me, there is nothing more perfect that a bacon buttie on the side on the dam first thing in the morning 🙂 before a day of fun.
Even if you don’t own your own BBQ you’ll find so many parks in our beautiful city have free ones you can use, how amazing is that 🙂 so there is no excuse not to.
If you need to know where to get some delicious meat to throw on it, then check out our discounted meat blog.
And if you want to cook up that perfect burger then Jo has some awesome recipes and we all know what a fabulous cook she is :-).
So guys and gals, whatever you cook 🙂 whether hotdogs or a whole roast. Invite your new neighbours over, some friends or family, grab a cold beer and throw something on that BBQ because we live in Australia and life is too short to eat inside alone.
