A Weekend in the beautiful Kingscliff

The beach …….. what more is there to say and Kingscliff is one of the amazing ones ?

We are blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches in all the world here in Queensland and when you’ve just moved here to Brisbane we all want to go and explore some of these amazing places , and enjoy the sand between your toes and miles and miles of white empty beaches

There are so many and everyone has a favourite but we wanted to let you know about one of our favourites and this one isn’t actually in Queensland but in northern New South Wales. Kingscliff which is about 1 & 1/2 hrs south east of Brisbane and just over the Tweed river .

Here you can still get a sleepy old beach town vibe without too many glitzy shops and nightclubs,  the beaches are pretty much empty, and I have to admit in those quiet moments on a busy day its these beaches that I very happily find my daydreams drifting off to.

We’ve been down to Kingscliff a couple of times now and it has quickly become one of our favourite beach escapes, we absolutely love it and this year we managed to go for a whole week in the New Year.

There are several accomodation options

From the Salt Mantra resort to the Peppers resort, through to self catering options with private houses and apartments for rent which you can find on the stayz website, or the last minute deal on wotif .  If you are a camper  then there are beach front camp sites too but these can get busy and so you need to book well in advance . So there is something to suit all budgets and all group sizes .

We love the peace and quiet of the beaches here and even in the peak season they are not very busy , and you can just walk for hrs on them and it truly feels like you are in a travel brochure somewhere amazing ( which you actually are 🙂 )

There is even a dog beach so if you do have a pooch who comes away with you there is the opportunity for them to get in on the beach action.

There are not too many beach activities here and if you are a thrill seeker and like all the water sports, then this is not the beach area for you unless you bring your own .

We love to take our bikes down with us and enjoy the miles and miles of beach pathways, taking a picnic and a towel with us and stopping 1/2 way to build a sandcastle and have a swim before heading home for some fish and chips to end a perfect day

In the salt village there are several good restaurants if you want a night off from cooking and a fantastic fish and chip shop as well as the all important Piccolo Gelato shop, yep always back to the ice cream what can I say 😉

This is not the place to come if you are looking for shopping or nightclubs, but if you want to enjoy some peace in the stunning surroundings of this amazing beach then Kingscliff is definitely worth a trip .
