Hello Joy Friends,
We set off on our first adventure of 2016 today. I decided to take the girls to the Cottage Gardens Nursery at 999 Stanley Street, Woollangabba.
A little treasure I had been keeping up my sleeve for a treat. The Cottage Garden was originally just a nursery, very pretty and doing a great job. A couple of years ago they changed things up and have created a destination. The building now holds several different business including Adrift, ( a gorgeous clothing store), The Old Boathouse, The Smug Fig cafe and the nursery.
Sarah here, we have no idea how Chrissy has all these amazing places tucked up her sleeve but we love it
I was reminded of this place recently in a home magazine after gazing at a gorgeous cane lounge on a deck and then reading that it was purchased at The Old Boathouse for a bargain. In the market for some cane furniture myself it was a chance to have a look around and see what they had in. It is a treasure trove of antiques and gorgeous bits and pieces.
Adrift clothing is a local clothing label that never fails to impress. Perfect for our tropical climate their dresses and tops are light and very pretty. They have a beautiful range of accessories that are perfect to finish off an outfit.
Sarah here again 🙂 they also do some lovely soaps and although I’m not a massive smelly soap fan ( haha now that sounds bad oops ) but one of them reminded me of my child hood at my grandmothers which was immediately a reason to buy it as such lovely memories came flooding in 🙂
We were in time for lunch and true to form we were all starving. The Smug Fig cafe has a lovely menu with a variety of all day breakfast items and a lovely lunch menu. Furnished simply and surrounded by plants it is like having lunch in your own back garden.
The food was simple, fresh and delicious, Jo had the ceasar salad, Sarah and I had the pumpkin and feta salad and my beautiful Dad who was hanging with us today had fish and chips. YUM!!!!
If you have a spare morning, pop into the Cottage Gardens Nursery and have a moment to yourself.
